Who We Are: Oasis From Manchester
We're Oasis, a rock band from Manchester, England. Here is our story in short, and why it ended up on the merch in this store.
Where did Oasis start?
Manchester, 1991. The band started out as the Rain. Liam Gallagher suggested a new name, Oasis, and we played our first gig on 14 August 1991 at the Boardwalk in Manchester.
The first line-up. Liam Gallagher on vocals, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on guitar, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan on bass and Tony McCarroll on drums.
Then Noel. Noel Gallagher, Liam's older brother, joined a few months later as the fifth member and became our main songwriter.
Who has been in the band?
Changes along the way. Alan White took over the drums in 1995. Gem Archer and Andy Bell came in for Bonehead and Guigsy in 1999.
A break, then a return. In 2009, after a backstage fight in Paris, Noel announced he was leaving. Liam and the rest carried on as Beady Eye, and Noel formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. On 27 August 2024 we announced we were back, and the Oasis Live '25 Tour ran from Cardiff in July 2025 to São Paulo in November 2025.
What sound are we known for?
Rock and Britpop. Big guitars, big choruses and songs like "Supersonic", "Live Forever", "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Champagne Supernova".
Seven studio albums. From Definitely Maybe in 1994 to Dig Out Your Soul in 2008, plus the B-sides collection The Masterplan.
Where does the merch come in?
Our logo first. The boxed lowercase oasis logo is on a lot of our designs.
Our history next. Album art, Knebworth and the Manchester years turn up across the collection, on tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, with kids' and youth sizes too.
